RE: There's a new Build engine game in developmen
The current content is one area with 5 or 6 very large maps (For Build engine standards anyway) which I guess could be quantified as equivalent to a Blood episode. There's secrets dotted everywhere but fuck me if I could find them without running into every wall and mashing spacebar. When you get to the end of a point of no return in a level, the game warns you how many you missed and one of the maps said I was missing 21. Most of them seem to be special action secrets though, not just doors disguised as walls. (e.g: A vent grating on the ceiling with a visible ladder hidden above it, shoot the grate to make the ladder drop down) All in all, I got through it in about an hour and a half.
Main complaints: The enemies are bland, the game stutters heavily from time to time, the weapons are the usual 3d Realms zany-fest (An 18 chamber, 3 barreled revolver! A grenade launcher that shoots shotgun shells! An exploding bowling ball!), and for how complex the maps are there's very little interactivity in them.
And I also got crushed by a door swinging open, but that just made it more authentic.
Overall, it's a good first impression, especially after the godawful Bombshell. Hopefully the dev team won't pull a DayZ an take forever to finish this now that everyone's throwing money at them.
