Oh yes - Aldrovanda did not get lost. Quite opposite actually. It found exactly what it was looking for.
My guess would be an ample supply of food. Like swaths of gnats (they do eat gnats). It probably decided it would be better off as a plant and decided to take root.
The thing is, it may be able to "decide" to do other things.
