well, they will certainly kill many, many rats, and squirrel, and anything with a pulse
but, im not sure if the venus can properly digest them.
the plant is highly advanced, to a degree much higher than anything else.
the traps, or pods, require a complete seal before any digestion is made.
they will just be killing the rats and dropping the fucking corpses as fertilizer, then eating them through the roots
