Also, I like the comfort of knowing I can always set the bar at B or B+ for these movies and not walk away too disappointed. What's much more grinding is hearing all of the oscar-bait hype around something then watching it and feeling like a complete moron for seeing it as the mediocrity it is. That happened to me with Lady Bird. It also sort of happened with that movie where giant crab spiders try to eat Jim from the Office.
The only REAL movie I actually have high hopes for this year is Hereditary.
