Yes, when an insect starts collecting iron, you can be sure it is for purposes of war.
Be it their skeletal structure, or whatever. Iron has many chemical uses, most of which are offensive.

The ladybugs see us as a vast source of iron, and their "curiosity" is a slow gathering of intel. Should they decide to switch their form.
