Sim, you're essentially wrong, but in the Fallout world setting, everything pukes radiation, so maybe that speeds up weird shit? I dunno, I'm a scientist but like, I never delved into what happens around highly irradiated places like Chernobyl and such.
Also, I liked the attempt for detailed science in Fallout 1.
