update
was able to save my guy from the mine, who was starving and also trapped with another NPC
food was scarce, i had to consider slaughtering my two wagon horses, i was barely able to tunnel out after getting another guy to clear a 3x3 area of dirt from the outside to satisfy the strange game mechanics of tunneling.
i had the server running for a while with him trapped inside
