Subject: RE: Godzilla 2016 and 2019

I've just seen a few screenshots and can't tell much, except that Godzilla and the surroundings look more realistic. On one hand, that's okay because I really dug the CG in the 2014 version. On another hand, I would miss the amazing miniature and modeling work in the old movies. Godzilla was always a sumo wrestler in a lizard suit, but the modeling got really refined over time. Some of the effects were really impressive -- like the little missile vehicles with rotating rockets and the model destruction layering. I got to the point where I stopped paying attention to Godzilla started wondering how they did that, how did they think it up, how long did it take, etc. It's like they got the best modelers in Japan and threw them in a room with the best bonsai crafters and then added physics people and engineers to make the most amazing dioramas in the history of the world. I love that.
