I notice that I didn't fully address the choice of melon over carrot. The problem with a mod like this is that it potentially reduces the challenge of farming, and I feel that this aspect should engage the player's mind to some degree. A carrot has no vines and thus poses no real spatial difficulty. By retaining at least some vine spread, I hope to satisfy the discriminating player who doesn't want a set-and-forget plant. Remember that players may want to go above and beyond by constructing melon houses. What challenge would they find in a carrot house? Almost none. A melon house requires thought.

Also, giant carrots are silly.
