Subject:
the LA river
is a monumental engineering project
people dont understand how monumental it is
over 50 miles of a massive concrete trench was dug,
the average dimensions, in most areas of this trench are great. very great.
and its all topped with thick concrete on all sides
the concrete is perhaps most impressive, surely nothing has ever been done on this kind of scale before. not for a single project. though the wikipedia article and history in general never credits this river for being the largest of its kind in something. surely it holds world record for something.
the concrete is almost 100 years old, and none of it is cracked or damaged in any area, despite the fact we live in an earthquake zone.
this is perhaps the most interesting thing i find about the LA river
it really is a 50 mile stretch of flawless 100 year old concrete
