Not surprised. It's a very improbable concept for a show.

VI's music is on a par with dog toys and winner, winner, chicken dinner. The show is about his real estate sideline, located mainly in Palm Beach. The idea was to take the usual flip show and put it on steroids. VI buys expensive but neglected properties and flips them for Palm Beach buyers. I keep imagining OPEC types and drug lords, but more likely they're just Wall Street types and old rich people stuck in Miami Vice fantasies. Whoever they are, the flip budget is astronomical.

The good thing about the show is that you never see the buyers. This would ruin it for me in the same way that seeing the buyers on Pool Kings and Megadecks makes me sick. Everything in me objects to their existence. I love the concept of an opulent flip. I just don't want to see anyone who could afford it.

Anyway, the fun of the show is the extravagance and scale -- cranes, earth machines, armies of trade pros, etc. Nothing is too lavish. Cue Richard Attenborough: "Spared no expense."
