Yes, that's on purpose. Enemies would have a hard time closing the gates during attacks.
"Why would enemies close the gates? Wouldn't your side want to close them? But that aside, how would anybody close them with all that stuff in the way? Why didn't you move the gates over?"
You worry too much about unimportant things. I didn't even show you the two cows I have. You read that right.
