RE: Diablo Immortal
I loved all the reactions from the live audience and the internet at large, sometimes I feel people are very entitled when it comes to videogames but this time it's 100% justified. About a week before the conference, a popular Korean Diablo community jokingly put out a gif of a slow reveal style Diablo 4 logo where the 4 slowly transformed into an M, everyone had a laugh. If only they knew.
Both Microsoft and Beth had a good answer to this: MS with their awful Gears POP mobile game announcement where everyone audibly groaned, followed by announcing a proper Gears of War 5 as well as a strategy spin-off. Beth followed up their equally shitty announcements with a simple still image of Elder Scrolls 6, even if it was a still image it was better than nothing.
And what's probably the funniest part about all this is that there's no doubt in my mind Diablo Immortal will be extremely successful in the Chinese market like every other Gacha style mobile game.
