RE: Microsoft seems to be trying
"Game subscription services are appealing as long as you don't get busy and forget to use them."
Correct. They do beat my previous model of buying full games off of Steam and forgetting to use them, however. Also, I'm not really sure I should have subscribed as I only buy 2 to 3 full games a year anyways. That said, the first month was on sale for $1. Upon subscribing I noticed I still couldn't install any games, so I went to subscribe again, this time for $10. Again I noticed the inability to install games so something must have not been going through, and I attempted a third transaction for $10. At this point I noticed the charges were going through just fine on my credit card statement, and after refreshing the page I could then install any game in the service, so I guess now I'm the proud inadvertent subscriber to Game Pass until February.
I'm very much committed to filling up my external drive with games I'll only play once and then delete, but I'm very excited to see the variety of opening cinematic publisher logos and menu screens. A lot of effort usually goes into those and now I'll get to see what I was missing.
