RE: "In coming weeks . . ."
It's more like borderline alpha status.
Features I've noticed in the multitude of youtubes up to this point:
* Reskinned slow ghouls are everywhere. They're called "Scorched" for some reason and carry low-rent weapons. As enemies, they're comically ineffectual and have all kinds of AI glitches, but they make up for it by constantly respawning.
* Every container has bits of crap that you're supposed to save up in order to build a camp. It takes forever to get enough junk to make a wooden foundation. Only a few items are available to build; the vast majority can't be constructed until you acquire "plans" by participating in dumb missions and events. Some robot merchants have plans for sale, but nobody can buy them because they're priced like Fabergé eggs.
* There are no human NPC's. Quests are generated by reading terminals and listening to metric craptons of holotapes. You must make your own immersion by interacting with other players, most of whom are derping around in typical MMO fashion, jumping on one another's heads, gesturing with offputting emotes, and wearing things like party hats and corsets. I expect to see various dancing emotes for sale in the Atomic Shop. All very immersive.
* Lag and disconnections are common. Players especially enjoy finding a set of broken power armor, trying to climb into it, losing contact with the server, logging back in, and discovering that the power armor is gone.
* For some reason, West Virginia is full of healthy autumn vegetation about 20-odd years after the nuclear war, which seems strange because the Capitol and Commonwealth Wastelands are botanically dead 200 years later. Bethesda takes your mind off this discrepancy by creating 2002 water effects and forcing you to watch objects pop in and out of sight despite whatever hardware you're using.
I don't see how anyone could be saying bad things about Fallout 76. I hope Todd and Pete have an excellent holiday season.
