Have you ever tried Stardew Valley? It's apparently the Xanax of gaming and as far as I can tell the main gameplay mechanic is to simply exist. I tried it a year or so back and couldn't quite get into it. It felt too much like living in the Happy Happy Village cult of Earthbound where everything was too wholesome on the outside to not be hiding some terrible secret on the inside. Similar to how when entire crops were lost in the Matrix.
Apparently I'm the outlier though and it's a rather peaceful game. I'm also considering trying Terraria since it falls into the same category of games to pass the time while waiting for the sweet embrace of death.
