Fallout 76 Ultimate Edition
So I've been loosely following this FO76 UE Debacle. To bring you up to speed, Bethesda was charging $200 to receive not only a copy of the game, but a prestigious canvas bag to carry around bowling gear or something, I don't really know. Anyways, as the story goes they instead received a nylon poncho that looks like it cost roughly $3 per bag to mass produce.
After analyzing the situation, I've come to the conclusion that no version of any bag, aside from the briefcase from Pulp Fiction, is worth $200. Even factoring out the value of the game itself, that's still a $185 bag. What un-fillable void are the people who bought this trying to satiate? I can think of only one instance where I'd be inclined to pay that amount for a bag, and that's if it contained 25 smaller bags within it. Furthermore, what would a person who buys this bag actually do with it? I can tell you what they wouldn't do with it, which is use it in any capacity that involves leaving the house or walking away from the internet. At most I can envision them 3D printing plastic assault rifle replicas to store in it while wandering around their cardboard replica Virginia Tech campus they've meticulously crafted in their basement... but beyond that I can't think of anything else. I personally think it was a power move on Bethesda's end, knowing that nobody would be caught dead complaining about it because that'd involve admission of having bought it in the first place.
