RE: Obsidian's new game
Counterpoint. Microsoft recently acquired Obsidian. Additionally, Phil Spencer is a pretty good leader (IMO) in that he's learned from previous mistakes of simply acquiring a company to assimilate them and force them to work on corporate pet projects and deadlines. Everything about their recent statements point to them offering better support/resources/infrastructure without getting in the way. So now you have a bunch of mid-sized dev companies (or large ones that have been dying for some time) being able to collaborate together for the first time under the helm of a company that has endless resources and technology at their disposal.
Counter-counter point... this is all fine and good for Obsidian's NEXT game, but anything that debuts in the next 9 months could presumably still be terrible since they didn't have the above benefits until now.
