RE: let us continue to speak logically about morta
The Romans were scared stiff of her. Partly this was deserved, but it was also Augustus's doing. He needed a reason to incite the Romans against Antony, so he hyped up Cleopatra's already bad reputation. His plan was to defeat Antony, parade Cleopatra before the Romans in chains, and execute her in some gruesome way. She didn't give him the satisfaction.
I'm about 96.54% sure that there were Cleopatra sightings after her death. I mean, like, if she had died today, people would swear they'd seen her buying gas at Alsup's or sitting in a dark corner at the Pancake House.
What would have been the ancient equivalent of the Pancake House? That's a puzzler. The Fig House? The Olive and Flatbread House? That's a bigger mystery than the Elvis thing.
