Unlike most people, I really like the 1963 Cleopatra movie. Historically, it's a mess, relying on a mishmash of weird sources like Shakespeare, Shaw, and Plutarch. I don't care. Elizabeth Taylor's costumes were worth the price of admission. Also, where else could you see Roddy McDowall as Augustus? As one of the most monumentally awful casting decisions of all time, this alone makes the movie a treasure.
