yeah i'm running in to that with Gothic 3 Forsaken Gods.
On the same setup with 2GB RAM, vanilla Gothic 3 ran so well that i tweaked the ini to increase view and vegetation draw distance.
Now with 8GB ram in the expansion and Vista 64 i get regular HDD chop as well as occasional instances were my frame rate will drop to about 5 FPS for no reason, and then after about five minutes, looking at the same area, it'll go back up to normal.
I blame piss-poor Gothic 3 programming.
