Except toxics aren't dumped in the desert, but in places like
Belleville, Michigan
. And those landfills leak. And the mining and refining of the Nickel and Cadmium create wastes, some of which are allowed to be dumped directly into the environment (or leech from the tailings pile).
I'm not sure what part of the CO2 hype you disagree with. I disagree that it will be the end of the world. I do think it could be the end of much of our part of it--the low lying, coastal parts especially.
