They *did* cost that much when I googled for replacement parts. AFAIK, they have changed the battery pack # of cells, wattage etc every model year so far.
I doubt the warranty is tranferable to a new owner though (yeah, like I'm going to read the fine print) so the extra possible cost on a used car at 150k or whatever is certainly still a decision factor.
FYI I don't want you to get the impression I am evangelical about the prius. When my 9 year old car finally goes, I doubt I will get one for myself. I kind of see an audi in my future.
