*sigh*

I must add more.

I acknowledge that Tywin was a terrible person and a criminally abusive father. The gold standard in parenting was, of course, Ned Stark. Why couldn't Tywin have been more like Ned?

Partly because Tywin was innately malicious. Partly, he was a closet megalomaniac whose master passion was making kings. But mixed in with all this was a level of responsibility Ned Stark never had, as well as Tywin's need to keep the Lannister family at the top of the food chain.

He was a family man.

Of course, his undoing was the same thing that finished Michael Corleone. He confused one family with another. By doing everything in his considerable power to nurture the Lannister name, he poisoned and tormented the Lannister children, eventually causing his own undignified destruction.

I still think he was an amazing person who sacrificed in ways people don't usually think about. I also think he could have used help from the elves. I know there aren't any elves in Game of Thrones, but they would have helped a lot. I don't know why they were left out. I mean, you have ice zombies and mammoths and giants. What's wrong with elves? They could have taught Tywin tree magic and mellowed him out. Elves would have been the ticket.
