The theme did have a habit of imprinting and lingering.
For what it's worth, I think you can skip the D3 campaign (thank Heaven) and go right into adventure mode. There's a little challenge, but Blizzard throws so much gear at you the whole thing becomes trivial once you research the best synergies. I kept playing because of the explosions. Also because my wizard had fabulous outfits -- a simply divine wardrobe, darling. To die for. The more anorexic characters dressed well. The chunky ones like the barbarian and crusader not so much. The wiz is tops style-wise; no contest.
