Grim Dawn is excellent.
It has pretty harsh death penalties if you get stuck trying to kill a tough boss. No item loss but you lose a large amount of xp per death. You get a portion back if you can get to your corpse but many instanced bosses dont allow that.
Other than that, it is every bit what PoE is
