Subject: Finally, I can mow my damn lawn

My parents gave me their old lawn mower from 2007, so I could finally stop borrowing my neighbors. My neighbors are perfectly nice people, but I always feel awkward going over there, hat in hand, asking to borrow their mower.

At any rate, sometime over the winter, my parents gave me theirs; since they're old fuckers now, they can't do the yard work, so they pay somebody and have no need for any of their tools.

Unfortunately, since the thing hadn't been used in years, bits and pieces of it started breaking off (old, brittle plastic on the air filter housing) and it refused to start (The spark plug was fouled). So, I replaced the spark plug, air filter and box and still the thing wouldn't start. So, I tore it down a little more, drained all the fuel out of it via the carburetor (which stunk up the house, because I left the door to the garage open. oops) and then cleaned the carb out; after that, it fired up without any issue.

I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself at this point. But, we've had like two weeks of shit weather (snowing today) and so, I don't think I'll actually be able to mow this weekend. I could maybe do it during the week when it's nice again, but we'll see what happens.
