My informal research shows that Ryzen 7 2700x outperforms my I7 4790k for video editing. For gaming, however, they're about the same.
At 1080p, there is some difference with a move to an i7 8700k or i7 9700k (around 10-20 FPS across various games), but the 4790k still does quite well. How curious.
