RE: Netflix redux
Also, I noticed that Netflix has The Walking Dead. As you may know, I avoided this series because (a) AMC has too many commercials and (b) zombies. But since the episodes are all here in their commercial-free glory, I decided to give it a whirl.
What I saw was: some cop or sheriff guy has fairly nice life, bad event happens, everybody turns into zombies, sheriff guy meets spunky Asian character spouting bad Stan Lee dialog, zombies lurch around and threaten sheriff guy and Asian guy (who is like those video game characters who talk to you over intercoms and tell you where to go), etc.
This is another series I can't figure out. How could it have hypnotized millions of people into suffering through all those commercials? I know, I know -- it's not about the zombies, blah blah. Well, that's a shame because in this case the zombies are more interesting than the survivors.
Now if you had a whole show about zombies trying to start a new life and survive the survivors, that might be interesting. I would watch a series about refugee zombies trying to start a new town. The first episode could be about forming a rudimentary municipality and getting a zombie railroad. Then they could do shows about barn-raising or getting a new school marm and that kind of thing. I might even put up with commercials to watch that.
