Subject: I need to go to bed earlier

I feel like 11pm isn't too late to turn out the light, but 7am rolls around and damn I'm just tired for the day. I need some motivation to work on the car, take a shower, etc, but damned if I can find it being so sleepy.

Also, I finally decided to put down Shadow & Claw: The First Half of 'The Book of the New Sun' by Gene Wolfe. It's a four book series, with this first part being two books, Shadow of the Torturer and The Claw of the Conciliator, the first, Shadow of the Torturer has an interesting premise and kept me reading, in spite of a lot of insipid bullshit, but the second book is just so meandering and dull.

The series reads like the author inserting himself into a D&D campaign he wrote, where his character is a complete Mary Sue. Every woman falls in love with him for no apparent reason, he's completely badass in every aspect, in spite of being trained as an executioner, he's extremely adept with his executioners sword when it comes to fighting off dozens of enemies at a time, he's smart, handsome, witty and has a magic orb that can bring back the dead. Every other character loves him and goes out of their way to please him and make them part of their lives, he's immune to poison and things that would kill any other character in the book. The writing is decent, if a bit flowery and pedantic, but damned if the series doesn't just meander and get incredibly tedious.

A few weeks ago, I picked-up Heinlein's For Us, The Living at the thrift store for a $1 or so; I've heard it's not his best, but I figure I'll give it a go, as it can't be any worse than Shadow and Claw series.
