this is a very interesting tree
photos and information over the web don't really explain much about it
by far my favorite tree species, surpassing the giant sequoia and black cherry
there are a number of reasons for this
its bark varies, i would also assume this variation is also within species. some of them are highly unique. visually most impressive. though to really understand this, you have to actually go and see the unique ones in person. it's really something like no other tree on earth.
their barks tell different stories, and the patterns of them vary greatly. images on the web don't showcase any of this. it's a shame really
