RE: I almost DIED...
Today's flight was cancelled because of stronger winds than yesterday which were 20kts gusting 30, and lower ceilings. So I'm kind of relieved. Putting around is pretty fun and easy. It's the more stringent airmanship, navigating, rules/regulations and requisite knowledge in order to get your certificate that's tedious. I'll try to get a handful of flying hours in before deciding if flying is for me.
Jaime, it was a Cessna 172 (almost a given) from the flying club at work. These are all pretty new, equipped with glass cockpits. The one I flew yesterday had less than 300 hours on it. We also have some 182s, a 206, couple Bonanzas and a 170 tail dragger. At $70/hr wet, it's relatively cheap, and my work will reimburse some of the costs after achieving certain milestones. You know, if I don't die first.
