Subject: Another AMD experience...

So I kept reading about how supposedly AMD got their shit together with the Ryzen series and ended up building a Ryzen 5 computer this weekend. Well, it's still the same old story with AMD it seems...
For couple hours I could not get the damn thing to POST, and I thought I fried something. It turns out the Ryzen 5 is incompatible with the GTX 780 (and apparently Titan series as well), which is what I had in there. The only way to make it work is to either boot up with another video card and set the PCIe slot to gen2 or lower to let it boot with a 780 or to boot with the 780 in a PCIe slot driven by the chipset (usually the 3rd slot, if you even have it).
It seems AMD was contacted about this problem and their response at the time was "the 780 is 5 years old, use something newer". I guess this might explain why these cards only sell for $50 on eBay.
