I have already done this several times.
1. Plod through the stupid campaign as quickly as possible so you can get into Adventure mode.
2. Get to level 70 as soon as possible so you can start the real game. See one of several Youtubes on how to get to lvl 70 fast. Pay special attention to gems.
3. At lvl 70, critical chance/damage become crucial, as do green gems.
4. Diablo is about synergy. How do "skills," jewelry, clothes, weapons combine for the greatest damage while providing at least passable survivability? Sets are your friends.
5. Diablo is about science. How do you use synergy to create a sustainable system? By "system," we mean something at operates at 100% efficiency under its own power with minimal interruptions. What are the gear combinations, recipes, active/passive skills, etc. that create the dynamics you want? Look around for my old posts on how I scienced my melee wizard. If I can find them, I'll link them.
6. Be a girl wizard or demon hunter. The girl demon hunter is interesting to play, but the wizard has nicer clothes and is more popular at school.
