RE: alright..
D3's class system is a bit eccentric. There are three melee, three magic, and one ballistic/ranged classes.
Melee
Barbarian -- classic brawler; surprisingly weak to enemy magic damage. Main attribute: strength. A heavyweight boxer with bad table manners.
Monk -- more finessed fighter with some reliance on quasi-magic. Main attribute: dexterity. Muhammad Ali meets Lo Wang. Male monk has the funniest voice acting in the game.
Crusader -- paladin type; not as twitchy as the barbarian or as elegant as the monk, but very tanky. Main attribute: strength. Love child of the Hulk and the Lone Ranger. Has no sense of humor whatsoever.
Magic
Necromancer -- newest class and a bit fussy to play, but can deal gobs of damage. Main attribute: intelligence. As name implies, uses dead things and blood magic. Not much personality.
Witch Doctor -- one of the most fun classes. Also fussy, but has amazing gear and an army of grotesques. Main attribute: intelligence. Can really f-- you up if you're an enemy. Also funny to watch.
Wizard -- has evolved into the most powerful damage dealer, though has "balancing" limitations, making it one of the more challenging classes. Main attribute: intelligence. Teleport is intentionally broken but can be remedied with Arcane Power generators and an Aether Walker wand. Can easily nuke elites and bosses if given enough survivability. Personality is arrogant but surpasses all other toons at being fashionable.
Demon Hunter -- comes close to the Wizard as reliable damage dealer; may even be better in solo play, as the Wiz must sometimes sacrifice defense for atomic death from above. Main attribute: dexterity. One of the fastest classes. With the Witch Doctor and Wizard, has interesting escape abilities. Personality can be tedious. Has zero comedy value and repeats lines more often than any other character.
