yeah, oblivion is some real silly stuff
morrowind would be more of a game for college students at least somewhat in that direction, where oblivion is more for 12 year olds
but strangely, it has some unique gameplay
oblivion is the only game i know with proper dungeon exploring. where you get right of the ambient light and mod this specific OBSE torch which can auto hotkey without the hotkey ever dissapearing, even if you run out. plus it will automatically drop your lit torch when you draw weapon, creating good visible light in a pitch black fight zone, then it will also auto sheathe your weapon and re equip the torch simply by picking up the lit torch from the ground.
for some reason the pitch black oblivion dungeon looks better than any other game i have seen. its just the way they are designed i suppose, the entire experience is genuinely unique.
this piece of shit monster mod which has been ongoing over a decade now and regularly updated, still is a buggy pile of shit, BUT, its pretty interesting on how diverse it actually is. you never know whats lurking inside these oblivion dungeons.
most of the monsters look like shit, but i kind of like them. its shitty to be almost enjoyable. almost in the right way.
but the main reason i use the mod is for the spawn edits. more encounters everywhere, much better than empty vanilla 2006 xbox game world shit. no other mod increases the spawn rate and encounters properry. plus i take this a step futher and multiply that mods spawn by 2. then i drop the global exp rate by something like 60-70%
the buggy piece of shit monster mod also does actually scale properly. all my encounters are challenging and not impossible like Oscuros overhaul
plus im running a bunch of other minor QoL mods, archery tweeks, no training cap, and others, oh and a skyrim style crafting mod, with ore mining/smelting and everything
modded oblivion is pretty darn decent
the base unmodded game is pretty decent entertainment as is
