RE: Not saying I'm going to upgrade
In December or January, I upgraded from an i3-6100 to a Ryzen 5 2500X and I've been really happy with it. My performance has improved considerably, as my GPU is no longer bottlenecked (970 GTX) and I haven't had any compatibility issues so far. The upgrade was painless and relatively cheap (less than $200); I pulled out my old mobo/CPU, swapped in the new stuff, booted up and after some automatic driver installation on the part of Windows, everything went smoothly (I did need to reactivate Windows 10).
For the money, I'm really happy with the performance of the Ryzen 5.
