One of the most powerful skills in the game is Speechcraft. It's surprising what you can accomplish just by passing speech checks, and there are quite a lot of them. Just raising NPCs' dispositions is very helpful. My Speechcraft is only level 70-something and I can talk most characters into anything.
Also, my Security is only in the 70s, but I can open level 100 locks pretty easily. Is this a bug? Who cares.
