Subject: Exploring Berandas

I was out and about, taking in the sights and making preparations for starting Tribunal, when I came upon Berandas, a Dunmer stronghold south of Gnisis. Most of these strongholds were abandoned ages ago and have since been taken over by outlaws, sorcerers, neo-moderate Democrats, and other persons of questionable character. Berandas is somewhat different because it is a hideout for Daedra worshipers. Consequently, it is a menagerie of Daedric critters, some of whom have nice loot and large profitable souls to trap.

I figure I had collected about 150,000 gp worth of stuff before I went into the lowest chamber. Here the structure seemed to have been overtaken by an ancient lava floe and lost to time. There was nothing of much value, so I was turning to leave when a thought occurred to me. Given Morrowind designers' predilection for hiding things, I wondered whether I should levitate. Sure enough, I found a gallery with a bit of loot. And a girl.

Apparently this girl, Mara by name, had gotten stuck or kidnapped or something and was waiting to be rescued. In exchange for a scroll of Divine Intervention, she gave me her skirt and blouse, both of which had nice constant-effect enchantments. Of course, the joke was that she disappeared just at the moment she handed over her clothes. It was reminiscent of a shower gag in some bad late-1950s comedy about Navy nurses.

To make up for this, I was allowed to find the Boots of the Apostle (a proper artifact) only a few feet away.

This is greatness.
