Subject: Before and after UPS diet

Yeah, I still accepted it. Am I stupid? Possibly. So first off, UPS freight isn't entirely to blame. My understanding was that the seller was going to ship it on a skid, rather than leave such a top heavy piece of equipment on its casters to survive the horrors of shipping. The casters didn't give out, but they're more suited to rolling around on a smooth lab floor than a truck<->loading dock interface. My guess is it took a faceplant at least once. I wanted to do a local pickup, but the seller didn't allow it. To make matters worse, the seller added 0 protection other than a couple layers of plastic wrap.

Ultimately, I think the critical bits of the vaccuum chamber itself survived mostly unscathed, and ideally the cabinet absorbed most of the shock rather than the turbopump. The controller for the hot ionization vaccuum gauge looks very unhappy (along with the filament power supply which I don't care too much about), yet oddly enough, the sensor itself which is in what looks like a delicate piece of glassware appears to be fine. That gives me a bit more hope that the pump bearings are fine.

On the other hand, I also just received the power supply for the pump via USPS, which was packaged very well.

Now back to our regularly scheduled necro shitposts.
