RE: Before and after UPS diet
While I never went to it, I heard about a place kind of like that from a few friends here in Wichita that had recently closed. Just a store run by some guy and a cat. Components and other stuff came from who knows where. Some things were below market value (especially for a store front), and then there would be other old crap that had almost no chance of selling, listed at some absurd price. One friend bought some of the stuff at auction. Included was a case full of boxed old IBM wall warts probably from the 80s. The price tag on each box listed them at $30.
