You aren't including labour.
The quote I was given for my Corolla was $1500, but you have to pull the block to do the job. I just keep an eye out for any drips on the garage floor (none so far) and oil levels. I suspect the service guy at the dealer was trying to...how should I put it...ensure maximal performance for my vehicle? Its funny, he told me that was needed, went away, and another service rep called me over and said "they all leak on old cars. Don't waste your money."
