I hope you joined the Railroad and did their silly quests just long enough to get fully upgraded ballistic weave. At a high enough level, you can leave most other armor in a drawer and run around in your Minute Men rags with a newsboy cap. For radiation, just pop one of the 9 billion Rad-Aways you inevitably collect. It's very liberating.
Then follow the Brotherhood's orders and murder the useless Railroad.
