Subject: Prey the ghey awey

When I was buying Psychonauts on GOG, I saw Prey on there for pretty cheap. At first I was confused because it looked modern, yet I vaguely recalled it being a pretty old game. As it turns out there was an old game by that name but apparently Bethesda decided to release a totally unrelated game using the same name for no reason other than they own the IP? Ok.. Well, I quickly glanced over some reviews and decided to buy it.

First things first: The plot is pretty damn weak.. Hole-ier than a, um, hole. It takes place aboard what might be one of the least convincing, and most mismanaged space stations ever. I never could suspend my disbelief. That should have annoyed me to the point where I'd consider it unplayable, but yet, I actually found it fairly enjoyable. The enemies were interesting imo, and despite leveling up, I never felt omnipotent because the enemies became more powerful too. In some ways it got harder as resources became scarce towards the second half of the game. At first I was attacking enemies head on because I don't know any better. Since I like to explore areas, I'd have no choice but to clear them out anyway. Towards the end, with most areas already explored and little ammo and medkits and a lack of junk I could find to recycle, the best I could do was a little sneaking and a lot of running.

I'm still not sure why I liked it.
