I don't know how dissimilar they could make it from the originals, or if it would even be a good idea to try. The locals and atmosphere are very familiar, which makes it somewhat uninteresting to me, but what else could they do and still keep it relevant to the series? I don't have high hopes for the story, which was interesting in SoC but I found lacking in both CS and CoP. I want there to be something to unravel, rather than just hanging out in The Zone in order to catch Pokemon. I have no clue as to how they could make that possible. But yeah, if the development cycle of the original is any indication, they have plenty of time to figure it out.
