I should add that Iwata makes a decent, if over-hyped, line of products. They're fine for close work using low air pressure. For instance, if I were doing tanks or Warhammer figures, this would be the way to go. Actually, I have very good results using the Iwata Eclipse on small close things like interiors and will go on using it for this purpose. I imagine it's quite decent as an artist's tool also.
But for model car bodies I think the old-school guys are correct: you need broader coverage. Paul Budzik (see his Scale Modeling Workshop videos on Youtube) advocates going with crazy things like small spray guns, especially for primers and clear coats. I don't think that's necessary, as the Badger Patriot has been working fine in that department. As I said, it probably needs cleaning. Also, my supply of Stynylrez may finally have reached its useful end.
No doubt something like the Eclipse would work fine even with acrylics if I were a more skillful painter, but I grow weary of experimentation.
