Jack Lemmon was always great, but to me the best thing about The Great Race was Natalie Wood, because she was always the best thing about any movie she was in. IMO, the best Jack Lemmon performances were as follows:
The Apartment (but here he was overshadowed mightily by Shirley MacLaine, possibly the greatest American actress; see her early work, like Some Came Running and The Children's Hour, and not her later stock mean old lady shtick)
Save the Tiger
The Andromeda Strain
The Odd Couple (duh)
