WAU! What a terrorific audience
I'm not big on the survival horror genre, and don't think I've ever played one all the way through (Dead Space doesn't count). However, I was a little intrigued by SOMA, at least from the bits that I saw from one or two trailers. Well, it was on sale so I bought it. I honestly didn't expect much in terms of story, if it even had one. Happily I ended up being really surprised. IMO, it's one of the most compelling sci-fi stories I've come across, and not just for a game. No silent protagonist bullshit. No stupid plot twists, and minimal holes. It's really quite well thought out, has good voice acting, and a great and relatively varied atmosphere (er, aquasphere?). Of course, it's not perfect. There's some annoying scripted enemy behavior, with some of them having kinda crappy animations. But that's all forgivable, because the things it did right, it did them really well. Also, it manages to simultaneously have both a happy, and one of the most depressing and miserable endings ever. This is easily one of the best games I've ever played. I already want to play it again to find all the stuff I missed the first time through.
