period correct in vibrant color
the sting, 1973
decent movie, though its not really likable, i just dont like the actors and how they present themselves, plus the plot is something like too generic. but still a decent movie to watch i guess.
though one thing really makes it special which no other movie i have seen do.
the camera used to film it is just modern enough to capture everything in just enough of a high quality. of course the film has been further restored and my copy is also a bluray rap, but the camera is the the base of it all.
the first parts of the movie, the streets, the buildings, the cars, the costumes, its all period correct to the button and shot very well. i have not seen such period brought into modern film before. really no other movie does this. it must have also been one of the last uses of such sets before going into permanent storage or liquidation. i mean everything is from the period, the window blinds, the furniture, all interior set pieces. and the early 70s were also very close to the 30s (the time where this movie takes place) to where you can also get all the exterior and interior buildings which remain from the actual period before being torn down as the modern era progresses. period locations with peroid vehicles painted in period original paint, on period streets, in front of period buildings, which are all filled with period set pieces and furnishings and populated by actors in authentic period costume. all still available at this time. just barely, again it really must have been close to these sets retirement.
..and shot with modern film
really is something unique
