RE: period correct in vibrant color
The Sting is an excellent movie with an excellent script, though I agree about the principal actors. Still fun to watch.
Also agree about the detailed period recreation. However, the Coen brothers' updated version of True Grit is even more authentic. Give it a watch sometime and look closely at the Fort Smith street scene when Mattie gets off the train.
